Meet the Artist

Brooke is excited by colour and how different combinations interact within the still life and interior scenes that she paints.  She depicts these scenes in confident strokes of vivid colour bringing together disparate and eclectic items that strike a chord – a chair, a vase of flowers, a lamp or an interesting mix of colours found in everyday life – to build a painting full of colour and pattern and an escape into another world. The visual realm, both online and life, culminates in a collection of images that inform and inspire her works.

Educated in the structure of design, Brooke juxtaposes this with the unstructured nature of the artworld. She tempers her artist brain by planning her paintings to the full. Compositions are sketched out and colours planned before acrylic paint is layered up quickly and decisively to create works of balanced contrast.

With formal studies in industrial and interior design paired with a background in photography and floristry, Brooke brings together design principles and artistic endeavours. She has exhibited extensively since 2018 in both group and solo exhibitions with Michael Reid Gallery’s across Australia and internationally and with The Moree Gallery.

Career highlights include solo exhibitions at New England Regional Art Museum (2020) and Sydney Contemporary Art Fair (2022) with Michael Reid, featuring in Australia Country Style magazine in 2023 and selection as a finalist in the 2024 Still Life Art Prize.

Brooke’s works have amassed a loyal following among art lovers, collectors and design enthusiasts who appreciate the decorative flair, eccentric collections and loose energetic style with which she arranges her stylish vignettes.

I don’t do nice. I do WOW. Life is too short to be boring.
